Understanding Health Savings Accounts and How to Assist Clients with Strategies
This session will start with an overview of Health Savings Accounts and how they operate, including key rules to keep in mind. We will cover everything from account opening to how to use it ongoing (including investing your HSA dollars). We will discuss how these accounts are being used by various employers in the market and provide strategies for practitioners and plan sponsors to consider for their own programs and clients’ programs.
About our speaker:
Greg Fowler, Vice President Strategic Partner Relations
Greg works with health plan partnerships to support their growth with HealthEquity across the full spectrum of consumer-directed health benefits: Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRA), Commuter and COBRA.
Greg joined HealthEquity in November 2017 and spent 3 years leading the large group servicing teams as Senior Vice President of Enterprise Service Delivery. Prior to joining HealthEquity, he spent over 17 years in the retirement industry working for National Benefit Services, LLC (NBS), most recently as their Senior Vice President, Retirement and a member of the Senior Leadership Team. Greg is passionate about retirement and Health Savings Accounts and the convergence of them both.
Greg earned his Master of Business Administration from Brigham Young University and his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Phoenix. Greg is former President of the Salt Lake Chapter of the Western Pension Benefits Council and past member of the Western Pension Benefits Council Governing Board. He previously served on the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA) Annual Conference Planning Committee (co-chair for 2016 and 2017) and has presented at the conference on Health Savings Accounts, Voluntary Compliance Program (VCP) submissions, and other business development sessions. Greg is also a member of the IRS Pacific Coast TE/GE Council. Greg is married and has 4 kids ranging in age from 10-20.
